It must not be easy for a guy to work in an industry dominated by women. But not so for Reza Aryabima, Co-Founder and CEO of PT. Cempaka Kreasi Sekawan, a mother company to Artisan Professionnel, one of Indonesian Make-Up Artists’ favorite eyelash brand. In fact, the main challenge Reza faced is how to be a leader who listens. “The key is to keep learning and build a large network,” Reza says, as he retells the story of how he started Artisan Professionel.
“This business started from my partner’s need in the MUA (Make-Up Artist) community. She often complained about the difficulty to find fake eyelashes that have innovative designs, consistent in availability as well as consistent in its quality. Furthermore, we also have this dream to bring an Indonesian brand international. With that need and dream in mind, we see an opportunity in this industry. After doing research and in-depth development, we succeeded in growing a product that is acceptable by our market,” Reza says.
According to Reza, this business has a huge opportunity and is not only growing in Indonesia, but also other countries as well. Therefore, export prospects are also huge. Reza keeps innovating to create an up-scale and sustainable product. Behind his resilience in building and expanding this business is his character building at UPH.
“I am shaped to be a more responsible man in life based on Christ-centered values during my study at UPH,” he says.
Through his experience in organization and committee involvement throughout university, Reza was forced to shape his work life so that he could work at a team and handle pressure as well as challenges more optimal. As an UPH alumnus, Reza hopes that UPH can always be an education medium that helps students grow and further make graduates responsible of their calling.
