Earlitha's Love For Mathematics Ushers Her Into Actuary

Mathematics is a quantity-based field many has deemed due to its’ exact numerical answer for every question. Not so for Earlitha, so is she called, though. She enjoyed doing mathematical works since elementary school, providing the challenge it provides. This UPH Mathematics alumni cohort 2015 admits that there is a personal joy when she was able to finish a mathematical problem. Therefore, her ambition to take mathematics during college. After searching high and low, Earlitha decided for UPH’s Actuarial Mathematics as UPH is concerned about it more than others.

As an actuary apprentice, she believed that she has been carefully prepared to be the best actuarist there is. Her conviction is further supported by the fact that UPH is the only university with Society of Actuary (SOA) certification, a certification that will further enhance her prospects in her Actuary career. After graduating, Earlitha secretly has gained 11 SOA certification and Persatuan Aktuaris Indonesia (PAI). 6 months after graduating, she has she also been given the title of FSAI – a test she’s coped with since the start of university.

Earlitha was grateful for the fact that UPH has equipped their students with SOA certification, as UPH is the only university in Indonesia with such certification. By taking a few pre-determined courses, students gained 3 SOA VEE certifications without even realizing it. Furthermore, UPH’s certification are aligned with those certification exams that it helps student like Earlitha to thrive in those exams. Professional certification is like a golden ticket to Actuarists – hence the encouragement to have positive intentions and big effort Earlitha frequently give her juniors.

“Taking the certification exams during college ain’t easy, but it ain’t impossible either. Thus, we have to do it with resilience and dependence to God in everything we do. When we start our career, it is not mere academic achievements the company sees in you but also the contribution you can give to back to them,” Earlitha admits as she gains appreciation from the company she works with.

Earlitha also frequent writing in her blog, www.actuaryinreality.com as well as a calligraphy-based online shop. Her time and spirit is not only beneficial for others, but also as a side-income for her.
