Ragahdo Yosodiningrat, FH UPH Alumni: Discipline from College Became the Foundation of a Career in Law

A career in law is often seen as a path full of dynamics and complexity. For Dr. S. Ragahdo Yosodiningrat, S.H., LL.M., or more commonly known as Aga, this choice actually developed early on, along with his interest in the legal world. This 2013 graduate of the Faculty of Law at University of Pelita Harapan (FH UPH) now serves as an Associate Partner at the law firm Henry Yosodiningrat & Partners.

Growing up in an environment close to the legal world, Aga has been familiar with the dynamics of this profession from the beginning, which later motivated him to choose UPH as the place to build his academic foundation. During his studies at UPH Faculty of Law with a focus on business law, he not only developed his academic understanding but also actively participated in various student activities, including the Law Faculty Student Association (HMFH) and engaged in various activities, both on and off campus.

"I was once involved in the HMFH organization and took part in various activities, including organizing several events. For me, studying at UPH was very interesting and memorable. This experience became an important learning space for me to develop my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills," he said.

The diverse campus environment also left a lasting impression on him. Interacting with students from different regions of Indonesia broadened his perspective and helped him build a network that still remains strong to this day. According to him, these relationships became one of the important foundations when he started entering the workforce.

Roles and Challenges in the Professional World

Taking on the role of Associate Partner, Aga works directly with clients and manages a team handling various cases with complex dynamics. This role demands sharp legal analysis as well as strong communication and coordination skills.

"At work, my role and responsibility are to interact directly with all clients. One of the most memorable cases was the trial of the obstruction of justice in the Brigadier J murder case. In that case, my team and I were on the ground directly, while also being responsible for coordinating and managing the firm's Associate team," he explained.

Working in the legal field puts Aga face-to-face with various complex challenges. He sees that the legal dynamics in Indonesia are still marked by a variety of issues, including practices that can undermine justice. That experience further strengthens his view that the legal system in Indonesia needs continuous improvement, considering that justice is the right of every citizen.

The Role of Discipline Values in Facing Legal Dynamics

For Aga, the skills gained during his time at UPH play an important role in shaping the way he works today. One of the values that stands out the most is discipline, which was developed from a structured academic environment with high standards.

"From the beginning until now, I think the value that really sticks with me is discipline. At UPH, we were required to follow fairly strict rules and routines, and that really carried over into the working world," he shared.

These values become the foundation for facing the legal profession, which demands high accuracy and consistency. On the other hand, every case handled brings different dynamics, requiring continuous learning and adaptability.

"Every day we face new problems. From there, we learn how to fully understand the situation, analyze every possibility, and find the most appropriate solution," he continued.

For Aga, it's precisely this dynamic that makes being a lawyer both challenging and interesting to pursue, because every experience becomes part of an ongoing learning process.

Aga's journey shows that building a career in law doesn't happen instantly, but through perseverance, consistency, and a readiness to keep learning to face various dynamics. From college days to stepping into the professional world, every experience becomes an important part that shapes his way of thinking, analytical sharpness, and integrity as a lawyer.
