From Writing Scientific Journal to Gaining Doctoral Scholarship

UPH is a place that shaped Hery to be an individual ready to embark on the real world after he completed his studies at UPH. Hery is a second-generation student of UPH, admitted into Electrical Engineering in 1995. In electrical engineering, Hery truly felt the impact of his lecturer’s classes in his career.

“Especially on the facilities at our library,” Hery admits.

Hery has been doing a few researches in forms of scientific journal, plasma-induced quantum well intermixing for monolithic photonic integration, InGaAs/GaAs Quantum-Dot, Superluminescent Diode for optical sensor and Imaging (IEEE Journal) as well as High-Density Plasma Enhanced Quantum Well, Intermixing in InGaAs/InGaAsP Structure Using Argon Plasma (Japanese Journal of Applied Physics) to name a few. Other than that, Hery also holds 5 US Patents, namely Zoned Optical Waveplate, Broadband Semiconductor Laser, Rflective Diffraction Grating and Fibrication Method, Optical Broadband Emitters and Methods of Making the Same, and Reflective LC Devices including Thin Film Metal Grating.

Hery is now working at Silicon Valley, California, America as an Engineering Director, Lumentum Operations LLC. His workplace is a semiconductor company at Silicon Valley. Furthermore, Hery receives a doctorate scholarship at NTU Singapore and an Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Indonesian recipients of this award are only 3 this far, including Merry Riana, AHY, and Hery Susanto.
