UPH Shaped My Character to be A Scientist, An Educator, and A Clinical Psychologist With A Firm Identity in Christ

"While some might be uncertain about what their future would be, God envision me a sharp career pathway that I am most passionate about: being a scholar and a practicing clinical psychologist. It did not take long for me at that time to choose UPH and since then, I knew I wouldn’t regret studying at UPH. Not only has UPH provided me with a foundation in psychology, but also shaping my character to be a scientist, educator, and clinical psychologist with a firm identity in Christ. I further believe psychology is pointless without the story of Jesus’ redemption. In 2014, I was granted the license to practice professionally as a clinical psychologist. Together with my wife – who also happened to be an UPH graduate and a clinical psychologist as well – we manage our own private clinic, Experiencing Life Foundation (ELF). With such framework in understanding psychology, I presented my role as a Christian psychologist. His mercy enabled me to assist clients in finding their true meaning of life through the shortcomings they face.

Soon after the first year went by, God further entrusted us to grow ELF and expand its service to provide psychological services in various sectors for school and companies. I’m grateful that ELF has had the chance to become an important part in raising psychological awareness in its local neighborhood. And as time goes, I believe ELF has become God’s extension to bless Indonesia, from regional to national level. What a great opportunity God has given to make an impact!

In 2016, I was awarded a scholarship by the Indonesian government to pursue my Ph.D at The University of Queensland, Australia. I believe this opportunity to study has further enhanced my calling in Psychology, especially taking my previous experience as a lecturer, chief editor of a trustworthy journal, and reviewer prestigious international journals. As I grow alongside of various research and teaching activities at the international level, I endeavor to capitalize my identity in Christ in the academic works that I showcase to the world. The career that I have today is not possible without encountering psychology at its wholeness, which UPH has best delivered.”
